Dr. Strauss takes a holistic approach to dentistry. He urges his patients to think not only about their present dental state, but potential future issues as well. His methodology is very much directed towards a proactive, preventative approach to dentistry. In general I think he's a good dentist, but he is not as responsive to the patient's requests as I would like. By this I mean he tends to follow what he considers dental "best practices" rather than listening to the specifics of what his patient wants. One the other hand, he is frequently available for phone consultations, which is a real plus. He shares an office suite with several other dentists, and while not spa-like, his office environment is quite comfortable. Dr. Strauss is not a participating provider with any dental insurance plan, so you have to file your own claims with your insurance company for an out-of-network practitioner. This adds to both the cost of treatment, and the additional burden of paper work by the patient. One unusual part of his practice is that he is an expert in problems related to snoring and sleep apnea. I have a snoring problem, and his assistance in this area was most helpful.
