Dr. Sakuma is simply the best dentist I have been too. She is easy to talk to and she runs a marvelous office with a terrific staff. She is great with my children too. She treat them well and they always look forward to their visits with her.
About Hygienist: The Hygienists here are always the best.

Karen Sukuma is very rude to both her staff and patient (me). Her chair side manners are the worst I have ever seen.

Excellent care. Definitely a holistic approach (beyond just your teeth). Although she is always busy, she does take the time to sit down and explain the proposed treatment and options. Tends ot be on the expensive side but you do get great care. Their billing process is poor though. I've never received a proper bill - just a photcopied payment notice from Delta which is not really the same thing. Their follow-up and reminder service is very efficient.
About Hygienist: Very thorough but their recommended 4 monthly cleaning isn't covered by my dental plan.

Dr. Sakuma is caring and very thorough.
At times, she's so busy that you're left to wait in the chair but it's worth the wait once she gets to you.
Front desk is very accommodating. Marie is great.
About Hygienist: Sandy and Carla are great.

I had once very heavy pain, and Dr.Sakuma offered to come in her office at 5 in the morning. She was nice even in early morning. I really appreciated and amazed how much she cares about patient.

The facility is very clean and comfortable. There is no problem in procedures and treatments. There might be cheaper dentists around here, but cost is not unreasonable. She speaks English but hires a Japanese translator, so Japanese people feels comfortable.

Straightforward, knowledgeable, honest, funny, truly cares, knows her stuff, fast yet very thorough, staff knows you by name, organized - these are just a few of the qualities I love about Dr. Karen and her practice. Have been seeing her for years and I would not hesitate in recommending someone to check her out. She makes recommendations yet leaves it up to you to decide what to do - she believes in patient responsibility. Does the needed handholding when patient is nervous over procedure but no "smothering mothering." Nice aquarium and devoted children's area (never seen unruly, rowdy kids, thank goodness!), and decor of bunnies, gardens and Japanese Zen (tasteful, not tacky). Plus, you might get a room with a view of Lake Washington. I love it here.

She takes care of me, my wife, my parents, brother, grandmother, godparents and has taken care of all of us for well over 20 years. You won't find a better dentist.

I highly recommend Dr. Sakuma, she teaches at the University of Washington dental school. She is the dentist for our family, myself, my husband and three children. She and her staff are wonderful with kids and our young children look forward to going to the dentist. Her staff are always very kind and polite. We have been very happy with all the work we have had done and I would not change to anyone else after being with Dr. Sakuma for about five years. None of the other dentists we tried could touch her for knowledge and service.
She is very chatty and friendly and makes time to be available. She is sharp, intelligent and professional.
