Very honest and does what is best for you. Does good work and staff is great. Small town office, but is very sufficient, clean, and updated processes and equipment. He will refer you if he can't do the dental work himself. He will send you to get a second opinion if needed.
My daughters and I have gone to him for over 10 years.
About Hygienist: His hygienists are very polite, respectful , gentle and very thorough.

I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Shaffer and his wonderful staff to anyone -- they make going to the dentist a pleasant experience! Both my husband and I have been going to Dr. Shaffer for the past seven years, and we are extremely pleased with him and his staff. I have a long history of dental issues, so I have a substantial basis for comparison of dental services, and Dr. Shaffer is as good, if not better, than any dentist I have seen previously. We have ALWAYS had excellent results, and we have ALWAYS been treated with professionalism, courtesy, and kindness by Dr. Shaffer and his entire staff. In my experience everyone in that office goes "above and beyond" to be sure that the patients are well cared for and happy with their results. Dr. Shaffer and his staff get top marks from both me and my husband -- we are delighted to have found him, when we moved here seven years ago!

I went in for my six month checkup/teeth cleaning, and to have a new set of xrays done. Dr. Brian Shaffer came into the exam room where I'm having my teeth cleaned and we started to discuss a problem tooth I have, and a couple of cavities I need to have filled. I informed him I dont have the best insurance, and I don't have a ton of money; so if something serious needed to be done I would have to wait until I couldn't wait anymore, ie, I was in pain. Dr. Shaffer lost it, he said if I was the kind of person that just wanted to come in every six months or a year and have my teeth cleaned, then I needed to find another dentist. Then he stormed out of the room. I was shocked, the sweet dental hygienist was shocked and followed him out of the room. Comming back in a few moments later telling me he "wasn't right today". Now call me crazy, but when it comes to medical care I want a Doc who is, at least, "right" when he is AT WORK. So I have decied to take Dr Shaffer's advice and seek a dentist without an anger control problem. After all, he uses a lot of sharp instruments, and they are in my mouth.
About Hygienist: Dr Shaffer's hygienst is the knidest young women. She was smart capable and recommended a new tooth brush six months ago that really cut down on my plaque.

He is kind and gentle, I feel like I have a family dentist, when I call Ann his receptionist knows my name and remembers me. His hygenists are also kind and painless, all in all he is the best. When my elderly aunt was visiting and had a dental ememgency he worked over his lunch to fit her in and fix her tooth

very nice man, my insureance would not cover porclin fillings and he did not want my mouth to be filled with silver so he paid the diffrence himself!!
