We are very happy our experiences at JD Orthodontics. Dr. Ding evaluated and treated my daughters' class 3 underbite problems in phases:
1) Facemask from the age of 5
2) Braces from the age of 6 and 9
3) Regular visits - continual evaluation until puberty
We are very satisfied with Dr. Ding's careful evaluation. He is ethical and sincere in communicating with parents on which procedures are necessary, at what age groups and what could be the end results of these treatments.
Though we understand he works more than half of the week in other Orthodontics offices, and only a few days at the El Cerrito office (thus, this place appears to be very quiet and he is running the business all by himself), it has not affect fixing a difficult class 3 underbite problems for my daughters.
Dr. Ding also has great credentials: UCSF Dental School in General Dentistry, then NYU Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics.

Never saw Dr. Ding himself; met two different dentists at this office; one diagnosed me; the other put 2 fillings in, however, one came completely out a few days laters (it crumbled into many pieces after drinking my morning coffe - didn't chew anything that morning).
Saw another Dentist to get the filling replaced.
Office staff here provide very poor service. Door bell doesn't work. Examination equipment really poor quality or non-existant. My teeth cleaning was not done right.
I know this doctor: 10 days

Dr. Ding is very conscientious and takes time to answer questions. He acts as his own hygienist . . . cleans your teeth himself! This is a small office. They typically only have 1 patient at a time so there is no long wait in a crowded room. When you phone them, you have to leave a message. They don't automatically pick up the phone. Sometimes it takes days for them to get back to you. I found this very annoying and discourteous though once you are in the office they treat you very well. While Dr. Ding seems to deliver basic dental services well, he was unable to diagnose pain that I was having subsequent to gum surgery and a root canal, that he recommended, as anything but tooth sensitivity. He recommended toothpaste for sensitive teeth. This did not work. I am going to look for second opinions, perhaps from less orthodox dentists who can evaluate whether my root canal and subsequent filling was done properly. I think I am only going to work with dentists who use composite fillings instead of amalgam fillings from now on.

Dr. Ding was very kind and took extra time and care in treating me. I had a crown replaced and some cavities filled; all of which was done very professionally and with little or no pain. I would recommend him.
