Read Reviews for Dr. Guolin Yu
Dr. Yu and his staff are efficient, friendly, and ultra-competent. Turned out I needed to have a crown replaced, as the tooth was cracked under it and the crown eroded. I am not an easy patient--I can't have epinephrine, which means it's harder to get me numb, and I've been to dentists who simply couldn't--but she did great. The temp that was put in is a masterpiece, fits so well i forget it's there. I go back soon for the crown itself, and for a quadrant of deep cleaning--yes, they do that in-house not send out to some high-priced perio. Hygienist who cleaned my teeth was excellent too.

Lack of modern computerized screens, etc. made me nervous, but doctors work was very good and I am pleased. I will return.

Behind in technology. They don't even have a software that can print receipts. The receptionist handwrites on those little slips from receipt books you can get at Office Depot for less than $20.
Terrible customer service. Every time I called, I would get their voicemail. What kind of a business doesn't have a live person answering the phone during peak business hours? I can understand if they have a fixed lunch hour or if it's after hours.
They kept rescheduling on me. I had to keep adjusting my time off request at work due to their rescheduling. One day the receptionist called me to cancel my appointment because "Dr. Yu is doing something on that day and he will be closing the office". I asked when the next available date was, and it was over a month later.
So I got smart and transferred. I'm happy with my new dentist and the office staff.

I went there twice because I was in pain and had a cavity but would rather not go again. The doctor and staff showed up 30 min after opening and the receptionist did not understand me. Dr. Yu is nice and did an OK job but the facility is really scary (the chairs are duck-taped!) But with the help of Dr. Yu they confirmed my insurance and did not overcharge me, I guess that's a plus.

Interstingly, although it is Dr Yu office - he is not the one who treats you but rather a nice guy from India.
The facilty is rather old - but service is plesant and good

The facilities are shabby and neither the dentist nor receptionist greet you in a manner that allows you to know who is who. There isn't even a reminder call the day before the appointment.

Cost were reasonable. Equipment looks like it's from the 70s. The light went out in the room in which I was receiving a filling and the procedure went on. I am leary of returning.

I can only refer to Yu as my previous dentist. My experience with him was quite negative. I have pieces of certain teeth coming out, as well as caries in all but about 6 teeth, all with pain. i was coming to him for my obvious problem = consult & prophy. As far as the prophy goes, he used the ultrasonic device on about 8 teeth, leaving the others untouched. He said he never saw anything like what I have. He has no idea what to do about it. So, he was going to call or write to my insurance co. to get me into UCSF Dental School Clinic, my regular doctor, and someone else that I don't recall at the moment. He sent me on my way. Now it is one month since I've seen him, and he did not contact anyone. He charged me a copay, despite the fact that my insurance does not have a copay for a consult and prophy; i.e., it's free. Suffice to say that my insurance co., a dental HMO contracts only with dentists who either have no reviews or those like this guy. The other reviewers were accurate as far as his antiquated facilities. He doesn't even have Nitrous Oxide! His English is terrible. What a mess. So, I then see my regular doc who sends me to an oral surgeon associated with the large group that he's in. I saw the oral surg., & it's all bad!

Not reccomended. English is patchy at best, equipment is old. I didn't feel comfortable with Dr. Yu at all. I had a knocked out tooth reimplanted at his office and will not be using him for follow-up care.

I felt that the dentist was rushed. The equipment in the office is old and needs to be updated. There was poor communication with clients.
