Not at all what I expected. I have heard great things about this Doctor of Dental Surgery, however, I was very disappointed by my experience. I was quoted quite differently than what I was actually charged. The office and doctor later explained that they do not quote over the phone, yet I was both quoted and the receptionist went so far as to call my insurance and check on my coverage as well. I was told a week later that I would owe very little. In addition, during my daughter's 15 minute procedure, Dr. Pavil was talking to his wife, who was in the operating room in plain clothes. Not sure why his attention wasn't fully on my daughter??!! When I later questioned Dr. Pavel's office about the extra charge, he called me on the phone and told me that he is often surprised himself by bills since his car was currently in the shop and the cost was higher than anticipated. I gave him the opportunity to adjust my bill and this was the direction the phone call went. I would definitely NOT recommend this doctor.

During a simple one implant surgery he severed a nerve that caused lip numbness, still present after 4 months. I have an X-Ray showing the pilot drill placed further than the nerve line and being placed at approx. 60 degrees. I have sent him a letter with more troubling facts about the surgery and I have received a full refund for my injuries. I would not recommend.

My problem is the lab I was referred to. Their name is Scripps but they are not associated with the hospital. They refuse to bill most insurance policies. Highly unprofessional with no concern for patients. Stay away from this lab. Pavel is a good doctor. Bad lab.

I saw Dr. Pavel for a routine (non-impacted) wisdom teeth extraction. I went with the sedation option because I did not want to be conscious during the procedure. I'm very glad I did, as it made the experience almost pleasant. One moment I was giddily breathing in nitrous oxide from a mask and getting an IV inserted in my arm, the next I was waking up in the recovery room with my extraneous teeth gone. Recovery was not too bad. I was eating solid food (very , very carefully!) by that evening. I had some random pain a week or two later that had me worried, but it went away on its own.
Dr. Pavel had a very informal manner and a good sense of humor, which I really liked. He seemed to be pretty busy the day I had my initial consultation, but he was very good about explaining the procedure and answering my questions. The office staff and nurses were friendly and helpful. I did end up having to pay a bit more than expected, because my insurance covered less than the office had originally calculated. The total was under $150 per tooth with insurance. Not sure if that is considered expensive or not. All in all, though, it was probably the most pleasant non-maintenance dental procedure I've had.

Dr. Pavel is the best in town and has excellent training. His love of patients and profession are obvious. He has an excellent bedside manner. The office is amazing, staff helpful and kind.

Dr. Pavel was wonderful and patient with all of my questions.
I had been to two other surgeons who were not near as accommodating. As a surgeon Dr. Pavel performed an extraction and the first part of my implant process. My regular dentist performed the final stage. Dr. Pavel worked as a team with my regular dentist and I could not have been happier. It has been two years now since my procedure and I cannot tell my new implant from my other teeth.
Oh and let me say this, I never had on ounce of pain with Dr. Pavels procedures.

Dr. Pavel was fabulous! I did not even consider an implant, his suggested treatment made me from a dental invalid to a chewing, functional human. He is hurried .. his time is short .. Because he is so busy and so great at what he does and the staff are outstanding and speak for themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Office staff is very nice. However, the dr's bedside manner is not the best. He always seems hurried and seems to be bothered by patient questions. Inform the office that you need some questions answered BY THE DR prior to setting your appt.
