Long story short, but thought people should be aware of this scam. My son was getting his teeth pulled but did not make it thru the procedure. Office staff called and said we need to schedule you down stairs for surgery. I told her my insurance does not cover him being "put under". I know this because of the place we went last time and I called them.
She said my insurance does because Dr. Downie is the one during the surgery. I asked are you sure many times.
Now I get a 1300 dollar bill from the place down stairs from Dr. Downies office.
When I called the office staff, she now says that the surgery place is a totally seperarte place and they do their own billing, so she would not have know how much it cost for the facility.
I said, "I told you my insurance did not cover this type of surgery, but you assured me it did.
She said your insurance did cover the part "we bill for" but not the surgery facility.
I find it very interesting that Dr.Downie owns shares in the surgery facility (in the same building as his office) and I said my insurance does not cover this and they say it does, just to bill it thru the surgery center. When asking how much this will cost to have my sons teeth pulled, it should be accurate for the total!

Very knowledgelable. Willing to spend the time necessary to solve the problem. Explains the situation very well. Made us feel very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and comforting.

Dr. Downie is a rare find in the health care field - genuine, intelligent, gentle and polite! He placed 8 dental implants for me and I have now referred several friends. He is an excellent doctor.
