Read Reviews for Dr. Stephen Gelfman
I was in pain and needed an emergency visit for extraction of 30th tooth.
My primary dental office referred me to Dr Gelfman for the same day appointment.
Upon arrival, I was seeing promptly by the office staff and doctor.
The procedure was done without any complications.
I'm really thankful to my dental office for referral to Dr Gelfman.

I went to see Dr. Gelfman to have an upper right molar extracted - something I was very apprehensive about. He immediately put me at ease, was warm, explained everything he was doing and before I knew it the whole thing was done. I felt very comfortable in his hands and confident of his skill. And I am healing quickly.

I made appointment for Dr. Miles. After my Xrays were taken, Dr. Stephen Gelfman looked at it, without asking me any history, told me my insarance will not cover it. When I suggested send record to insurance company and wait for response, he started shouting. I have never ever met any doctor who would behave so bad. When I asked staff, why Dr. Gelfman is treating me when I specifically made appointment for Dr. miles, their response was, "Dr. Miles does not come on Thursday." But while making appointment, I did not insist Thursday, I said I want to make appointment with Dr. Miles. And it was not an emergency appointment either. So staff decides which doctor you will see, irrespective for whom you have made appointment. I would not recommend any one to Dr. Stephen Gelfman even if he is last docor on earth.

Dr.Gelfman removed two rear molars and after seven weeks I am still suffering the aftereffects.I cannot open my mouith more than one third nomal and then with severe pain. After several post op-visits with no improvement,Dr.Gelfman got very angry when I calmy asked him for a diagnosis /prognosis of this disabling condition as a result of his operation. He said he did not know why it happened, how long it would last , whether it would improve ,he had seen it before and the "therapy" he suggested that might improve it was all wrong/counter-productive according to my primary dentist who examined me(at my expense) and gave me the correct instructions. This is a nightmare that is with me 24/7 whose duration and severity is unknown..Let the buyer beware..

Do not go to Dr. Gelfman if you are a nervous patient. He seemed very nice and patient friendly when I went for my consultation, but when I went to get the procedure done, he actually yelled at me when I became nervous. While his technical skills as an oral surgeon are fine, I do not believe it is worth being treated poorly when one is in a vulnerable state.

Came there with the recommendation of my dentist. The doctor is nice and has good bedside manners.
The environment is clean with great staff. The treatment was not painful and they gave the necessary toolkit to care care of your tooth when back home.

Not so bad, I would definitely recommended it over root canal. I was out of the office 4o minutes, and most of time was paper work.
For those doing a Google search, I recommend Dr Stephen Gelfman. Professional. Polite. To the point. He treated me like an adult.
But he would not let me take my teeth home. I said my kids wanted the tooth fairy to visit me. He said it is an OSHA regulation. They are potentially infected material. Wouldn't want that on the subway. He also told me to take the guaze out of my mouth after 30 minutes. I did not think that would be a good idea. There are some thing you do not do on the Q train.
I just wish you did not have to wait "about a half an hour" to pick up a prescription. What is the deal? It is not like they have to concoct some potion. They just have to put the pill in a bottle. Aahahah.

Dr. Gelfman has removed 2 of my wisdom teeth on two different occasions (my choice when they were removed, though my primary dentist recommended all out at same time, I chose to do them separately). I had a bottom one removed in 2004, and just had a top removed in late 2007. Dr. Gelfman is great --- very nice, no nonsense, and both times, I had no pain (worst part was the numbing needle, and even there, I pinched my hand and that hurt more than the needle!) and great recovery. Highly recommended.

Ive had several surgeries with Dr Gelfman and have been very pleased. He works quickly and I had little pain and very quick healing and recoveries. He has saved my teeth on two occasions abd avoided extractions. Im planning to have him do any implants I may need. His waitingroom is crampt abd can get crowded
