Horrible, disorganized front office. Not friendly, required all money up front even though Dr WIntersteen was listed as a provider for the insurance company. Excessive billing for services not recieved.

They overcharge you and you cannot get your money back
Dr. Wintersteen is a good oral surgeon. However, his front office staff is less than friendly or helpful. They require payment in full up front even when an insurance claim is forthcoming. They have the insurance benefits assigned to them and then refuse to refund the excess you paid. Dr. Wintersteen really needs to have people in his office who are compassionate and actually enjoy working with people and if the current staff can't do that, he needs a new staff.

My husband and I both seen Dr Wintersteen when we were kids for our wisdom teeth extractions. We now have brought our children to see him. Dr. Wintersteen is gentle and kind and his staff is wonderful. My kids had a great experience.

WARNING... Dr.Wintersteen is a gifted and talented surgeon but is a victim of his own front office policies. Everyone who comes through the door pays cash up front but you won't find that out until after the initial visit with the doctor which is a separate charge. If you have full coverage insurance from a medical and dental company, it does not matter. You will pay for everything yourself and they will file insurance on your behalf. If you have the cash you will not find a better surgeon anywhere and that is a fact.

Both my husband and I went in for surgery. I went in for wisdow teeth extraction (all 4) and my husband went in for a bone graft. The surgeon and facility is top rated.
However, the service is absolutely horrible. There is NO follow up care - you have to ASK for the appointment and you have to ask the "correct" questions. Payment is always UPFRONT (full) AND they file the claim at their LEISURE (why would they hurry for you?). My husband reminded them that he was allergic to the antibotics 3 times prior to the surgery - he was still given the same antibotic that he was allergic to in the perscription!!! That is incompetence!
Service is amazingly bad for the cost. We'd not go back.

Very professional staff. I really liked Dr. Wintersteen and Dr. Brock. I was afraid of getting my tooth pulled but was walked through the whole process. I knew what my cost would be and was treated very well before and after.

This is not the right place to get oral surgery. The staff is unfriendly and unprofessional. They do nothing but add frustration to the experience. The doctor is not friendly and only concerned with getting you in and out and collecting your money.

I went to dr. Wintersteen because I ws in serious pain < I was told that I could pay the fees in 3 installmants. It ended up costing 350.00 for a simpe extraction and could only pay in 2 installments, in this economy with no insurance that was a big burden. But the doctor was nice and the office clean and effecient

BE AWARE.
Dr. Wintersteen's employees do not hesitate to assure a patient that they do work with his/her medical insurance while the doctor, in fact, is an out-of-network provider. The combination of the affirmative statement 'we work with your insurance' and unmentioned 'out-of-network' status is merely unheard-of in a normal, non-fraudulent practice. They do not tell the patient that the doctor is an out-of-network provider, as if it was insignificant, or they just never knew what that means. Yet, it seems they do whatever they can to delay the processing of the first insurance claim, so the problems would not become obvious as long as possible. The claim for my surgery was properly filed with almost 2-month delay despite the numerous reminders.

I was referred to Dr. Wintersteen by Grand Cinco Dental Clinic by OKE elementary school. I had two wisdom teeth removed. I was under intra-venous sedation. He put me to sleep about 10:50 and I woke up at 11:32 and I was done. I took one hydro-codone pill at 12:15 then one at 4:15 and no more. I really had no pain, no excessive bleeding. Dr. Wintersteen did an outstanding job!
