If I could give Dr. Blom zero star, I would. A few years ago, my dentist told me that I needed to put on braces in order to fix a grinding problem I had. I went to see many orthodontists, but they all told me that I would have to reduce the width of my back teeth, in order to create space to put on the braces. Dr. Blom was the only orthodontist who told me that he could get all the work done without having the need for me to have this procedure, which I didn’t want to do at all. So, I went ahead and decided to do the treatment with him, even though his price was the highest one. It was nearly 2K more expensive. Half way through the treatment, he told me that, unfortunately, the procedure was necessary. As you can imagine, I was beyond upset because it was obvious that he knew that from the very beginning, but he decided to be dishonest with me. I did what I had to do, and had my braces removed in two years. He left me with a giant gap between my back teeth that I didn’t have. And now every time I am done eating, I immediately have to go floss the area, otherwise I will have a pile of food sitting in there. When my dentist saw the gap, he told me that he had done a horrible job. I went back to Dr. Blom to talk to him about it and he told me that was the way it was supposed to be. He told me that wearing the retainer would take care of it, and it never did. He was rude and condescending when I brought up the issue to him, and I ended up leaving his office infuriated. Then, I moved to LA for about a year, and when I came back, I called him to book an appointment to adjust my retainer. His staff had the audacity to tell me that I would have to pay for a new consultation “fee” because I was gone for a year. UNBELEIVABLE. Part of the agreement we make when we hire an orthodontist and get the treatment done, says that the orthodontist is supposed to adjust your retainer after you remove the braces for free, and we shouldn’t pay anything extra for that. I asked the secretary to talk to him, but he never changed hi s mind. I didn’t want to continue supporting his dishonesty anymore, and I went to a random orthodontist in my area, whom I had never seen me before, and he did it for free. On top of all of that, he books a couple of patients at the same time, and his assistants are the ones who actually do all the work. He just comes at the very end, says “hi” to you, looks at your teeth for about a few seconds, gives you his blessing and off you go. His assistants are the ones who do 90% of your entire treatment. So, you are not really seeing a real orthodontist. Anyway, do yourself a favor and find yourself a more decent professional. There are better orthodontists in the Sacramento area who are honest and possess work ethics. I would never recommend him to anyone. I am still thinking about suing him.
