Recently I discovered that this orthodontist gives a "family discount" to some patients and not to others. When I inquired about this discount I was led to believe there was not one. Then after I mentioned the person I knew that had recieved one, I was told that yes there is such a thing but we (our family) does not get one. I was also told that it is "at the whim of the doctor". This discount can be more than $400 or less, and some people "the majority" get none. I was told it was not based on payment history or if the treatment is prepaid. It is simply what the doctor chooses to give. It is also not based on the number of children you have in treatment or on referral history. This has been difficult to come to terms with because before I discovered this I have been very pleased with the care my children received. The staff was not upfront about the "family discount" and only when cornered with the facts did I get a straight answer. I am concerned about his discriminating business practices. I am not even sure if this is ethical? If you choose this orthodontist I can assure your kids will get excellent care but you may pay more or less than another patient pays for the same care simply because the doctor likes you more or less.
