I would not say that getting braces done was painfree for me. My gums bled each time I visited. However, he has an excellent staff working for him (especially in the front desk) and is a very patient dentist. You went there terrified and you left there reassured. Most of the time, he took me as soon as I came in which is saying a lot compared to other dentists.
