I am a 51 year-old professional, married for 28 years and have six children. Five of my children are now young adults. We received regular consultations by Dr. Thayer while visiting our dentist several years ago. Eventually, five of my six children received full orthodontia care, but not from Dr. Thayer. My family and I have never been treated worse by any medical professional in my life time. When we inquired about the price, knowing that several of our children might need braces, he verbally assaulted my wife and two young children criticizing her for having a large family. He suggested that this was irresponsible on our part and even shared two stories where mothers of large families murdered their children. He said that everyone makes choices and that we had made ours. He ddi all this with a raised voice and very condescending tones. Needless to say, that concluded negotiations with Dr. Thayer. I reported this to the partnering dentist, but he obviously did not want to deal with the issue. In the next few years, we met two other families in our area that had a similar experience with Dr. Thayer. I have always regretted not taking more action regarding this incident, and wanted to at least use this opportunity.
