My daughter had been seeing Dr. Starr for a few years before it was time to do the braces. We met to plan a course of treatment and he said he wanted us to consider jaw surgery. Orthodontic treatment would vary depending if our daughter had the surgery or not. In the following months we consulted an oral surgeon and also discussed treatment options with a cousin who is an orthodontist in San Diego. My husband and I went back and forth on having the surgery, which is a serious surgery requiring breaking of the jaw. We opted to proceed with braces and no surgery and so we made the appointment to discuss treatment. We met with Dr. Starr and his assistant. With my daughter on the chair, I told Dr. Starr of our decision. His reply was that he was sorry but that he, without the surgery, could not do the braces. Without another word, he got up and left the room, leaving me standing there dumbfounded and speechless. I have never seen such rude behavior from a dental professional. We left the office one last time and had the braces done by the office of Quimby & Collins. Our daughter has a perfect and lovely smile and there was no surgery.
