Another dentist at this practice was my dentist for several years so when it came time for my 2 year old to have her first appointment, I booked it with Dr. Matthew Harrington in this office. It was a terrible experience. My daughter became scared and Dr. Harrington forcibly held her back in the chair as she squirmed and cried. He asked me to hold her down and then asked assistants to push her back in the chair which only made her terrified. I told him that it was her first appointment and that this was going to make her afraid of dentists but he insisted that we try to forcibly open her mouth.
After 5 minutes of her crying, he gave up and suggested that I prepare her for the next time we try to look at her teeth.
Needless to say, we didn't go back. We went to another pediatric dentist who was very gentle and made a game of the exam. My daughter happily complied and even enjoyed the experience.
I would not recommend Dr. Harrington for very young children.
