I learned that hard way that "Implantologist" is not a specialty that is recognized by the American Dental Association. While Dr. Provines was a friendly enough person, I felt the treatment and ethics were below standard. My sinus was perforated 3 times, each time resulting in a sinus infection. After the implant was finally placed I was sent to have the crown installed. Unfortunately the implant had not taken, and I had to have it removed. This of course cost me everything I'd spent on both the implant and the crown.
As soon as the implant failed, Dr. Provines stopped updating my medical records. After I asked why this was the case he updated the records with what I felt was minimal, and less than completely accurate, information.
In consulting with a number of other dental specialists it was strongly suggested that I see a qualified maxillofacial surgeon.
I strongly urge others to do their homework and have implant procedures performed by a qualified maxillofacial surgeon.
