I think Dr. Hoster is an okay dentist (though a bit defensive when asking questions) but the office policies and practices are very difficult. From Day One they hound you about making prepayments when setting appointment. They tell you how much your insurance will pay but tell you it's your problem if they don't. They filed the claim for the consultation as a "comprehensive exam" instead of a consultation, which means when I had my regular dental exam it was not paid because my 2 in a calendar year was exceeded. They do this because most insurance will not pay for a consultation if the specialist does a procedure, and they want to get paid for both. Then they filed a really poorly documented claim for the procedure and it was denied for months. I had to follow up continually. Then when it was paid, his fee was more than $200 over the maximum allowable for the area. My advice: Make sure you insist that they submit for pre-authorization (which they did not do with my claim.) They cost me more than an extra $300 in addition to my normal 20% copay. When my treated tooth was problematic, he said his role was to "hypothesize" about the problem but took no responsiblity for solving the problem ("I told you it might not work").
