This dentist was recommended by my regular dentist for an implant.
I needed a tooth extraction prior to the implant.
The extraction was done about two weeks ago. It took around an hour, the procedure was somewhat painful and apparently complicated. No recommendation was made to me post procedure. No appoinment was set-up for follow-up expect for pre-implant procedure in 3 months.
About 3 days later appart from the soarness of the surgical site, an inflamation appeared, pain followed. The clot was lost on day 6. I called the dentist who couldn't see me that day (he finishes practice at 5pm) and got precribed an antibiotic over the phone.
I saw my regular dentist that evening because I was in significant pain. The diagnostic was a "dry sockett" that needed some treatment on top of the antibiotic.
This is a common complication of tooth extraction that needs more than over the phone prescription. It is preventable with the right procedure (during extraction and after extraction).
I am disapointed that the Dentist didn't provide more information upfront to prevent the dry sockett from happening and caring for it after it happened as a medical follow-up.
