At my 1st peridontal visit, Dr. Kaplan's complete evaluation indicated that I had peridontal disease in all 4 quadrants, though I only had one inflammed quadrant. He recommended peridontal work done in the inflammed quadrant & preventative work in the other 3 quadrants. He provided a comprehensive treatment plan & budget, which reflected the dental insurance fees to which I subscribed and he accepted. Even with these special rates, it seemed like a lot of money, so I elected to only have peridontal surgery on 1 quadrant, which was a success, and have a deep cleaning in the other 3 quadrants. I wish I had taken Dr. Kaplan's advice and had the preventative work done. Though I continued with deep cleanings over the next two years, each of the other 3 quadrants developed troubles. Though initially it seemed expensive, the preventative work would have saved me from a "blow out" in another quadrant, which led to the loss of the tooth and an implant. Dr. Kaplan, an excellent peridontal surgeon, provided A+ post-operative care, is informative, & emphasizes preventaive care. Peridontal work is frightening, the surgery is hard to experience. Being able to trust him improved a difficult medical situation.
