I have always received complements about my smile. I was blessed with straight white teeth and I never needed to wear braces. While growing up, my parents took me to the dentist for regular cleanings and examinations. During my college years, I became lax about my dental care and, as a result, I developed decay in many of my teeth. I never assumed that there were differences in the quality of care between one dental and the next, boy was I naive.
One of my top, front teeth had developed an infection near the root. I needed to have a root canal and a crown. I was unfamiliar with the process and I trusted that the dentist would make sure that the crown looked like my natural tooth. I was totally wrong.
