When we changed dental plans we moved to Dr Welch's office because they were in the new plan. Our impression is that they always try to "up sell" with things we don't need, and their prices are high. I've also never been thrilled with the cleanings I receive, just a quick rush job and not getting that smooth feel that I was used to. We've kept going because frankly it is a hassle changing providers under our policy. After my visit yesterday, I am changing no matter how much hassle. I don't like having routine xrays made. If there's a problem in my mouth, fine. But don't expose me to radiation for no reason. I was told yesterday when i showed up for my cleaning that they were "legally required" to xray my teeth, which is of course not true. There is no law that says that they must zap me with radiation. They refused to clean my teeth without taking an xray. This is the first time I've ever encountered such a ridiculous tale and obviously they just want to bill my insurance company for those unnecessary xrays. They had not even looked in my mouth and my history is zero cavities or problems with my teeth in all this time.
