Dr. Lee built a prosthetic device for me, known as an obdurator. This enabled me to speak after a head and neck cancer operation. It was extremely difficult to create since I had trismus, which is difficulty opening the mouth due to surgery and subsequent radiation. He also had to schedule his time around the fact that I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. This device attaches to the teeth and replaces my soft palate, allowing me to speak more clearly and making me more understandable, which is a necessity in my occupation, where speech communication is important. Other professionals in this field, such as at Georgetown {Washington,DC}, Vanderbilt {Nashville,Tenn) and MD Anderson {Houston,TX} Hospitals were more than suitably impressed with Dr. Lee's expertise and professionalism.
