I had a small reoccurring mucocele on the left lower lip that was troubling me for over 6 months. Found about Dr Spingola who is an oral surgeon, meeting him gave me a feeling that he can relive me of the mucocele. Scheduled an appointment with him for the surgery, I was out of his office in 15mins. He prescribed Darvocet pain medications and scheduled a one week follow-up. During the follow-up I mention to him about the burning pain on the lower lip and it spreading to the upper lip too. He ignored it and said it was due to the scar tissue and would eventually go away with the healing of the scar tissue. About 40 days in I had no relief from the burning on the lip. The burning pain had spread to the cheeks and the tongue by then. Finally I consulted a neuro and she said that I have Trigeminal Neuraligia and it was caused by the lower lip surgery to remove the mucocele. I would caution anyone who is going to Dr Spingola for a mucocele surgery.
