Three days after surgery after I stopped taking pain meds, I found a big blood clot stuck to one of my teeth. Worried I had a dry socket I called the office & was told not to worry, it's completely normal to lose the clot (so wrong). The next morning I had my first post-op appointment, he examined & rinsed the sockets. Later that day horrible pain began, the pain meds didn't help, so I called & spoke to him about it. He said yes, he knew I had a dry socket that morning but never said anything. He said there wasn't anything he could do for it & all I could do was wait for it to heal.
Fortunately, I'm personal friends with an oral surgeon in another state & asked for his advice. He was shocked a doctor would turn away someone in pain & said I should have them packed with a dressing with Eugenol & 10% of patients need it. I called Potee back to request this & he reluctantly agreed.
When I got to his office he said the dressing wouldn't help & would probably fall out immediately. After he put the dressing in, I said I was feeling better & his story changed to: I knew it would help, you'll feel better in no time & that dressing isn't going to fall out. What??? Clueless!
