We switched to Dr. Armijo because he was on the west side. Right away he said I should have two fillings replaced with a crown even though our old dentist had never mentioned needing to do that. Because I'm a naturally trusting person I followed his advice. He told me I should go with porcelain crowns because a gold one "would ruin your smile and you would be unsatisfied" and porcelain only has a 5% breakage rate. Only a few months later, one of them broke. I asked how soon it would need replacing, since my insurance wouldn't cover replacing it right away. I also told him rather politely that I thought I had kind of gotten "a lemon" of a tooth. He told me then that he "always" tells his patients to get gold crowns for molars because of the porcelain breakage, especially if they have a history of grinding their teeth (which he already knew I do). When I told him that was the exact opposite of what he told me originally, he LIED directly to my face. I couldn't believe that he could be so blatantly dishonest.
In other news, my husband got a bad infection in his cheeks after Dr. Armijo performed his root canal. He said Dr. Armijo put so much pressure on his cheeks throughout the procedure that his teeth were biting into them.
