My parents found Dr. Deal in the phone book in 1971, looking for an emergency dental appointment when I fell and cracked two front teeth as a child. He has cared for my family's (parents & siblings) teeth ever since.
He has always taken a conservative approach in his practice: "If it isn't broken, don't fix it". As a kid, I loved this philosophy; I didn't need many fillings, and when I did, he drilled the minimal amount needed. I often wouldn't need novocaine.
His office is too far from my home to be my primary dentist now, but I still go to him when I need a second opinion on any procedure my primary recommends. My primary wants to replace old fillings (that Deal put in 25-30 years ago). I go to Deal who looks at them and says there's nothing wrong with them. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.
He is also conservative with his use of dental technology, utilizing only what facilitates patient care. He abhorrs pratice consultants.
I expect Dr. Deal is nearing retirement, but he has a number of Associates in his practice, who I am sure are equally excellent. Dr. Deal wouldn't have it any other way.
