Dr. Vilderman's group, Serenity Dental, doesn't use a hygenist. Scaling done by the associate dentist (great job of scaling..), but the novice assistant (not registered dental assisant) polished my teeth. Unfortunately the young assistant had never handled a pollisher before, I was her first patient. The older assistant showed her how to hold the polisher and walked away. The young assistant was terrified, poor thing. It was not her fault, but you can imagine the quality of work done. I felt sorry for her, she was not at all prepared for this.
They "sold me" on using a bite block, and I agreed. They requested 100% prepayment, which I paid. After the insurance paid, Dr. Vilderman would not return my full prepayment. They wanted to keep ~ $100 more than the insurance allowed. Only because I threatened them with reporting them to the better business bureau did they refund me my overpayment minus my co-pay.
The bite block was unusable because I couldn't swallow with the bite block in place. I didn't want to go back to have it repaired, I just didn't want them to touch me again.
