My 14-year-old daughter went to Dr. Sherman to have her impacted wisdom teeth pulled. There was trouble with the fourth tooth, as the root was wrapped around the jawbone and was difficult to remove. It took almost an hour to remove the fourth tooth. Durning that time, my daughter's local anesthetic wore off and she began crying in pain. Dr. Sherman ignored her cries. Dr. Sherman did not offer to re-numb my daughter's mouth and proceeded without any pain relief. The louder my daughter cried, the louder Dr. Sherman raised the volume of the music in the O.R to drown out her cries.
Almost 2 1/2 hours after my daughter went in, I was allowed to see her. She was sobbing convulsively and was so traumatized that she couldn't speak and the convulsive breathing continued into the night.
When I found out what happened and asked Dr. Sherman about it, her response was, "it was a judgement call." That she had patients backed up in the waiting room and she thought she could get the tooth out faster than it would take to re- numb my daughter.
We don't treat animals as inhumanely as that!!
