I had a very bad experience at Dr. Frank Dal Santo's office. I was in for an emergency, to have my wisdom tooth pulled and was in extreme pain. The receptionists claimed they could not find me listed "on their screens" as having Delta Dental Insurance. They claimed Delta Dental's phone line was busy so they could not verify. I asked if they wanted to verify my employment and offered my faculty ID at SFSU which they didn't accept. They repeatedly asked me to pay up front, even after they verified with my kids' dentists that I am insured, and had used the plan in January 2006. Still, I was told: "Even having paid in Jan. doesn't mean you're covered." After 30 minutes, other patients in the waiting room were already looking at me as if I was creating trouble because that is what the receptionists made it sound like. Finally, after a long 45 min. wait, I was told that "we will do the procedure but if tomorrow we verify that you don't have insurance, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY." I said I was not that kind of person, that I had already signed all the forms taking financial responsability for the costs, and that my husband was a patient of Dr. Dal Santo, so why were they giving me such a hard time knowing that I was in extreme pain? I left.
