I visited Dr. Acierno in August of 2005 for my very first root canal. Needless to say, I was quite nervous. Dr. Acierno gave me little consolation and basically allowed his office manager to do most of the talking. After the procedure, I kept asking what to do if it was not successful. Then, he said that if it didn't work, he would refund my money. I was quite surprised and only a little comforted by that promise. I was more concerned about my health than the $311 copay. Perhaps coincidentally, but perhaps not, just four months later in December, 05, I had to endure open-heart surgery.
The tooth never settled down. After visiting 5 other dentists for "2nd opinions", they all agreed that the root canal was not done properly and that the tooth needed to be removed. Still in pain, and believing that Dr. Acierno would make good on his promise, I decided to have the tooth extracted. When I called Dr. Acierno's office, he would not speak to me. And, that if I had anything to say to him, I should put it in writing. Because I was still recouperating from my surgery and did not want to put myself through the additional stress of a possible court battle, I simply decided to drop the issue.
