I was very IMPRESSED with not only the Dentist but the entire staff. I'm one of those people with an unhealthy obsession to avoid dentists/doctors! I was embarrassed to write on the form that the last "regular dentist" I had was one assigned to me when I was in the military - 1979. Of course the lack of having a dentist had cost me, my mouth has too many problems to even list here. Plus the fact I never floss didn't help either. But what was important is that Denise made me feel okay about it. They didn't judge/lecture, they made me relax and talk openly and freely about my dental past. It will cost me over 11k to get all the work I need done (which is reasonable if you saw my teeth) but I have nowhere near that amount of money on hand. I was afraid of this as well, figured I would give it a shot but had reservations if they would even see me. Figured they would check my credit and see if I did not qualify they would never bother with me. Well guess what? It's no problem! Someone stole me identity a few years back and because of that (plus admittedly some bad decisions on my own) I do not have good credit. But it's okay, Dana and the dentist are going to work with me. They are going to break it up into separate sessions where I can get work done at my own pace!! Again, there was no judgments on their part, they didn't think twice about me being unemployed and low on cash, they said it was no problem and are going to work with me so I can eventually get all the work done. The last thing I was concerned about, which is why my teeth got so bad in the first place, is just general anxiety about getting work done at all. Not sure where I got it from but I literally feel sick to my stomach and stress out several days before I even get to the dental office for my session. Once again they did not act like I was acting irrational, somehow they understood me as a 52 year old man has about the same "courage" as an 8 year old girl. I paid $99 for the check-up and to see what all needed done and it was worth it. Very very thorough, both from the staff and the dentist himself. I not only understood what needed to be done but all options that were available. I was so impressed I asked them to charge my CC another $500 and in the beginning of next month I will start with my first procedure. They have no problems in allowing me to "deposit" money there to help me save for the next step in my dental program. Anyway I will update this for those that might find themselves in a similar situation. Being broke, unemployed, and absolutely fearful of the dentist is a horrible recipe for a patient but they are working with me on all levels!! So after this first procedure I will update how it went and I will provide honest and straight feedback. FTR I know nobody that works there. I was referred by a lady at the library but I have no loyalties to anyone. If things go bad I will make a point to list the negative stuff as well.... I think patients should have all the information they can possibly obtain before starting a procedure like this. It's a lot of money for someone like me so like most people I want to get my money's worth. So far I have to say I am extremely impressed but to be fair the work is just starting, LOL. They have at least not scared me away, that's a start. I usually look for a reason not to get this work done. First session they will pull several teeth which should be start of October, I will keep the blog going for others who are both afraid of dentists and hopefully give them information they can use when/if they need work done.
