I have only been a patient for Dr. Stone's for a short amount of time and the overall atmosphere and quality of work is excellent. My only complaint is that I felt the finance/office person misrepresented the cost of a particular procedure which required me to pay an additional $300 of my own money out of my pocket. Here's the story:
Dr. Stone recommened a deep cleaning. Since my insurance had just changed and her office was NOT preferred humana office I asked them to see how much Humana would cover BEFORE they made the appt. The office amanager agreed and said she would call me at my work. She called up later that day and said Humana would cover 50% which meant 500.00 out of my pocket. I agreed even though if I went to a preferred Humana carrier it would probably be much cheaper. Well they do the procedure and it turns out that Humana will only pick up a little over $200 for the procedure since Humana doesn't go by the cost that I paid (or that Dr. Stone Charges)but rather what they believe to be a fair cost . IMO this was somewhat underhanded sincfe clearly this is not the first time their financial folks have dealt with Insurance companies and they had to know that the insurance company was not going to truly pick up 50%
