i needed extensive work. on a trip home, my father connected me with a dentist friend, who performed a root canal for me at a discounted rate.
as soon as i was home, i returned to dr. clarke's office, (where i had my initial exam) to have the crown done. after a novacaine shot, my treatment was halted by the payment specialist. she demanded that i pay by credit card immediately. my mouth was numb and i was light headed. i was told my credit was run, and i was not eligible for Care Credit. i have a credit score of 748. the man who had allegedly run my credit came in. there were now three people standing around me, demanding my credit card. couldn't i just pay as i was leaving? no.
i'm still baffled at how paranoid and unprofessional this office was. they seemed terrified that i would walk out without paying, and they'd never see me again. i wondered if having some of the work done elsewhere raised a red flag to them, but no one explained anything to me. they were adamant: they would need to run my card before any work at all was completed. no, i couldn't pay as i was checking out. do they deal with criminals on a regular basis? seemed like it, because i felt like one. it was appalling, and i'll never go back..
About Hygienist: very pleasant and knowledgeable. she had nothing to do with the above fiasco.
