Worst pediatric dental experience ever! I brought my 2 year old in for his first dental visit. He repeatedly told my son that he was "so emotional," my response was "He's 2 years old!" "Oh, mommy is taking up for you," he says. As an "experienced dentist" he should have had a far better response for seeing a 2 year old at his very first visit to the dentist.
We were referred to a dentist by our pediatrician because my son's primary front teeth came in misshaped. Dr. Ricardo tells us my son's teeth are a sure sign of an infection during pregnancy. I respond, "Oh well I didn't have any infections when I was pregnant with him, wouldn't it be something they detected?" "Yes," he says, "but I can't think of the name of it, I'd have to look it up in a book." As he rushes through the exam he continuously fails to inform me of what he is doing to my son's teeth and tells him, A 2 YEAR OLD, he's "so emotional." After he informs us that we must come back for sealants or fillings (I'm not sure of which one, due to the haste of the overall appointment), he tells us the appointment is complete and leaves fluoride all over my son's mouth. He sees me go to the sink to wipe it off and says "Oh yeah, I forgot to wipe it off," then quickly ushers us to the check-out area to make an appointment for the filings. Mind you, he never told me the name of this "mystery infection" that my son's teeth so surely indicated. I ended up having to ask the receptionist what treatments took place during the appointment and what he suggested moving forward.
The entire appointment was a messy blur! Dr. Ricardo was unprofessional and behaved as an inexperienced pediatric dentist. While he may be better caring for adults, we will NEVER visit his practice again. Beware!
