After not going to the dentist for a while, I started coming here and had several cavities filled over the course of a few visits. Then on her recommendation, I had my wisdom teeth removed (elsewhere) which was fine. They recommended a deep scaling -- which my insurance rejected the claim for, which they did not warn me about. Since all of that work my teeth have been healthy, with no more cavities. She's very reassuring and has done excellent work so far, and I've had no real problems.
But at my last visit she said that I'll need a crown, and after researching the fees they gave me for the procedure I found that their prices for this (and likely other procedures) are quite a bit higher than the average for this area, according to the calculator on http://www.bracesinfo.com/dentalcosts - I'm not surprised, given other research I've done, but I am disappointed. I'm not entirely convinced I need the crown at this point, and on top of that the price seems out of line. I'm going to ask more about the reasons I should get one now (they've always been fine with answering questions), but the price is still steep and, likely, non-negotiable.
