Dr. Birnbaum did not send me a reminder postcard or call me to schedule my most recent regular six month check up.
His front desk help is not well-trained in the basics. Last year his receptionist mistakenly charged me for a routine visit. I called my insurance company from the waiting room to confirm the validity of the copay and they said it was unnecessary. The receptionist would not renege and refund my money until Dr. Birnbaum directly interceded with her.
His waiting room is very small and feels cramped if there are more than two people in there. The office is a converted garage and if you go at the wrong hour the sunlight can glare in your eyes through the large windows.
Dr. Birnbaum generally runs late. During my last appointment he was 25 minutes late for my cleaning. Before my appointment I saw him frantically running out to his car from the window of his waiting room.
He was not cordial when we met and was in a rush to get to work. He walked out in the middle of my cleaning for a five minute consulation and then rushed back in.
When I came in to have a cavity filled this week I discovered he had cancelled the appointment and they could not reschedule my filling for three weeks.
