Buxt was horrible. I didn't even let him perform the root canal.
This assistant didn't bother asking questions or even listening as to why I was referred or the medications I to which I am allergic.
The Buxt came in, just threw back my chair, which was painful considering I had an abscessed tooth, and without a further word smack the tooth I was there for him to see causing me to jump out of my chair with shock/pain. At that point I realized they had no business doing anything to anyone.
First and foremost, listen to the patient and make sure you get the meds they are on, have taken, and are allergic to correct.
Secondly, before you do something potentially painful, inform the patient and be gentle about it. We know you have learn about stuff, but come on, give us some warning and pretend you care.
And finally, when due to your un-professionalism and insensitivity cause a patient to jump with pain, apologize, instead of sitting there with a lost look on your face.
