I went to see Dr. Schuster after having a root canal failure that was done by another dentist about 3 months ago. Dr. Schuster looked at it on xray and sent his assistant in to tell me it was a "complete redo". I was floored because this meant ANOTHER root canal . But, I trusted his judgement since he is a specialist.
At the 2nd appt., it was a difficult ordeal and he told me it almost came down to surgery . I went home, encountered swelling in my face and a lot of pain over the weekend. I called his office on a Sat., his asst. called back immediately and got me on antibiotics and said to come in on Mon. if the swelling wasn't gone.It wasn't so I went in today and was told this 2nd root canal was unsuccessful, and now I need surgery.
I am now going to bypass that and have the tooth pulled after all this. I think Dr. Schuster is a very capable Dr., despite all this, but he needs to have a little more compassion for his patients. He seemed in a hurry, and uncaring. This was after all a traumatic situation and a little overwhelming. I don't need a total hand holding ordeal but a smile and a few kind words would have gone a long way. I do however appreciate how quickly he responded to the emergency call and got me right in
