I had a root canal. It was entirely too painful. It took three visits and my first visit was extremely painful. I was physically exhausted from the pain actually. I handle pain pretty well, but every visit was disappointing. The doctor doesn't communicate well during the process and seems eager to get me out of the office, with little instruction on post care. He also failed to prescribe me an antibiotic before he started the root canal procedure. He seemed frustrated with his assistant during each visit and while his staff is pretty friendly, he needs to polish his empathy and communication skills. He made me nervous several times.
I wouldn't say he is a bad dentist, but he's a rough dentist that doesn't communicate like I wish he did. My third and final visit for the root canal started with a scaling without anesthesia because his nurse "assumed" I couldn't afford it I guess since I don't have dental insurance. The office was clean and at each visit, I didn't have to wait long. Overall though, it's too much money and time to be in so much pain with little-to-no pre or post care instruction. I definitely felt like "just another patient" there. There has to be something better in St. Louis!
