My child is on Medicaid and while I do appreciate that Dr. Marcello accepts Medicaid so my child doesn't have to go to one of those free clinic type providers, I believe the dentists at Royal Crest go over board when it comes to root canals. Point in case, daughter's 12 year old molars caused some pain when coming in. Dr. Marcello said daughter needed root canal, so I asked to see the x-ray. Dr. Marcello behavior changed as if to say how dare you question me. The x-ray was brought up, he pointed to a shadowed area, then turned the monitor off quickly. I made the appointment to have the work done, but cancelled it a week before appointment. That was over 1.5 years ago and daughter has had no problem with the tooth and the subject of a root canal did not come up during her last cleaning. I'm going to guess and say that a root canal is probably one of the most expensive treatments that Medicaid pays for and the treatment is abused. I have a friend who is a maxillofacial surgeon. When I mentioned this to him he just smiled and stated that seems to be the case and it was not the first time he's heard it. Be sure to get a second opinion if in doubt.
About Hygienist: Excellent hygienists always makes my daughter feel comfortable and does a great job.
