I met Dr. Keith at HCHP, Kenmore in 1993 when my Reiter's Syndrome started attacking my left TMJ. He requested an MRI and told me that the technology was not good enough then for an operation. I had a second visit in 2001 or so as the right TMJ was starting to hurt. Again, he said the odds were 50-50 at best that I would be worse off with an operation.
FINALLY, in April 2013 I saw him. My mouth could open about 20 cm. I could not put a banana in my mouth without scraping it on both sets of teeth. The MRI and CAT scans showed more damage. He said the technology was now good enough for a successfuloutcome.
On Nov 11, 2013 he replaced both TMJs. During a follow-up visit on 4/7/13 he measured my mouth at 36 cm.
