My wisdom teeth were growing and causing pain. During a routine visit he said I had to cavities, 2 together, and next to one of my painful wisdom teeth. He wanted to do fillings and then wanted me to go to an oral surgeon for extraction of the wisdom teeth. He did the 2 fillings and I experienced pain for 3 weeks after. I called him and said that had never happened after a filling he said it was fine and to go to the oral surgeon. I went and had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted wound up with 2 dry sockets and pain for over 3 and a half months. The oral surgeon said he did everything he could, X rays, CT scan, did not know why I was in pain. I had to take so much Advil I developed an ulcer. I went back to Dr. Engel and explained everything to him. I told him how much pain I was having. He told me "your in good hands"(with the oral surgeon). Desperate I went to another dentist whom a friend recommended. He took an xray and thoroughly explained to and showed me that my pain was coming from the tooth next to my extracted wisdom tooth site that was filled by Dr. Engel prior to the surgery. He had gone too deep and exposed the nerve by a hairline. This new dentist did a root canal and finally my pain was gone!
