We had 3 surprise charges from this office in 2011. When we contacted the office trying to work with them to avoid them in the future, they kept saying that it is the patient's responsibility to find out whether your insurance company pay for your treatment. True, but they need to contact the insurance anyway, why cannot they send pre-approval to the insurance before any treatment like other dental offices to avoid such surprises and let patients make an informed decision? Why always wait till after the treatment to annoy your patients? The staff is nice when paying the bill, but can get really nasty when being challenged with the billing questions. They are not willing to help you to figure out the costs and involved procedure. My recommendation is AVOID this office if possible if you don't want to have a big surprise charge.
