Dr. Bloom is gentle, which counts for a lot.
He was willing to use nitrous oxide for teeth cleaning, which I requested because of high anxiety/pain sensitivity. Still, he acted like this was a pretty weird thing to request, and I was billed extra, and always wondered why it could not be covered by my insurance.
Finally, I was disappointed by his treatment of a cracked filling. He recommended a gold filling as a replacement, which cost me over $2,000 out of pocket! He gave me NO warning as to the expense. I was stunned, since I was used to paying $50 or so out of pocket per visit. Furthermore, the filling felt "weird" and metallic for years after it was done.
I also had a feeling over the years that Dr. Bloom's office was not keeping up with technological advances in dentistry.
Also, the few times I had a dental emergency, he was never available for a next-day appointment.
So all in all, I am ambivalent and have finally decided to look for another dentist.
