I have been to Karl Heilbrunn for a long time and view him as a meticulous, careful professional. He has dealt favorably with my pre-existing periodontal disease, provided fillings, crowns, a bridge and the assorted matters that come up over the years. After 30 years one does not have a basis for comparison but you don't move on from a dentist (doctor, lawyer, etc.) unless you have had a bad experience (which I have not). I engaged him based on a recommendation from someone I respect. Over the years I have discovered Karl to be brusque, dismissive, and lacking in graces one would like in a person in his position; one has to tread lightly when broaching certain subjects. The problem is he can be very charming, is very intelligent, but can shift mood in an instant to the point where, even after 30 years, I believe he would tell me to go elsewhere. I have seen him tell people to never come back a number of times and I came to realize it is more his issue than theirs. He has allowed "generously" a 15% discount on my treatments since times got hard but I believe he is still very expensive (who knows (?) - I don't have insurance) so I've decided not to go back to him. It is with some regret, as I do believe he is a good dentist.
About Front Desk: Kathy was always very nice but I don't think she's still there. When I was last there a year ago he was bordering on retirement and had brought in another dentist to his solo practice that I did not meet. However, I've noticed, he has received very favorable reviews.
