Dr. Ten Eyck is a very friendly dentist with a humorous personality. However, I no longer go to this dentist after one bad experience I had in 2009. Originally, I received a great recommendation from a neighbor when I first moved to South Phoenix and I went to Dr. Ten Eyck for all my checkups and cleanings, even through 3 years of braces. He gave me my first filling ever at the age of 37, which was uncomfortable, but beautifully done, so no one could even tell it was there. I keep my teeth immaculately clean, so I was surprised at the need for a second filling, which I believe was jumping the gun on the doctor's part, since it didn't show up on the x-rays, but only indicated by a laser tool which measures tooth density. He said it was a tiny cavity that went deep, but only one week after getting the filling, the tooth cracked while I was eating my usual breakfast one morning, which lead to much intervention and an eventual crown on that back molar. I have consulted several dentists since then and concluded that the laser tool, being new technology, should be used only with conservative consideration. I now go to a dentist who has more years of experience and does not use the laser tool.
About Hygienist: I had two very personal and friendly hygienists, but the first one used blasting tool for cleaning, which was harsh on my teeth and caused additional sensitivity. The second one did manual cleanings, which were more comfortable for me and far more effective, I believe.
