My first consultation with Dr. Elam lasted for hours and resulted in missing an appointment with the hygienist for the cleaning I wanted. I went back for a filling that was loose and was given an x-ray that was declined by insurance. That x-ray cost $400 and even though I let EVERYONE in the office know that I was on a limited income, the bill was mine. I would not recommend him to anyone. It's taken months to pay the bill off and had his office requested a pre-determination, which is not a foreign practice, they would have been well aware that the x-ray administered was not covered, allowing me an option to proceed with that type of treatment or not. I found a new dentist who performed the SAME x-ray FREE of charge. I guess his proximity to Vanderbilt and downtown allows him to financially rape patients.
