Unethical. Dr. Couch's office did not fully explain what dental insurance covers and the true cost of their service. They presented a treatment plan for orthodontia that said patient pays X amount and insurance pays Y amount. What they did not explain is that most insurance breaks out orthodontia (braces) into installation and ongoing treatment. The ongoing treatment phase can be as long as 2 or 3 years. In the event, you change dental insurance or change jobs, you would be stuck with the sizable bill. Meanwhile, the bulk of their charges is to ongoing treatment -- not the initial installation. Does that make sense to you? It doesn't to me.
