I went to Dr. Bender for a sleep apnea problem. He made an
oral appliance for me within a couple of weeks. I had some success with the appliance, but never solved my sleep apnea. I needed several adjustments, and each and every time, I was charged for "chair time". My opinion was he made the appliance, so I think it is his responsibility to make sure the piece fits well. After relaying my dissatisfaction, I went to another doctor who provided me with a CPAP. I have never slept better and it was 1/4 the cost of the appliance. I did research other doctors who supply the same appliance and make it themselves, and they charge less than $2,000.00. Dr. Bender charged me over $4,000.00 plus "chair time". It would be worth your time to do as much research before visiting any doctor if you are considering an appliance. I feel like I was taken advantage of as a patient and would not recommend Dr. Bender to my friends and family. He is a very professional, nice doctor, but in the end, my sleep apnea was still present and I was in the hole for over $5,000.00.
