I have seen Dr. Kim for several years, and now that I have different insurance, I am shopping for a new dentist. Overall, I cannot recommend him.
Firstly, his cleaning staff is not very friendly, very "all-business" (some may care for such treatment, but not me), and not as good at providing a pain-free cleaning. Everytime, prior to the water-blasting portion of the cleaning, I mention a sensitive recession I have. EVERY TIME the assistant has caused me considerable pain at precisely that location, several times without even an apology (just a "sorry" suffices -- it's polite).
The last time, after cleaning Dr. Kim inspected my teeth for literally 10 seconds, declaring "looks good" and then without another word, left the room. I was shocked.
I was told that by Dr. Kim that I had worn down my molars due to nighttime grinding and he suggested that it was in my best interests to get a custom-fitted bite guard made from a molding of my teeth. However, such an appliance was not covered by my insurance and ended up costing more than $400 out of pocket. Although the bite guard was a good fit, ultimately a cheaper one would most likely have sufficed, and I know of several well-made ones in the $50-100 range.
